What is TaeKwonDo?
TaeKwonDo
was developed more than 2000 years ago in Korea; its main feature is that it is a free fighting combat
art using the hands and feet to repel an opponent. Since it was developed as a form of self-defense all it's activities are
based on a defensive spirit. It allows the practitioner to face any opponent, but forbids unfair assault or unnecessary use
of force. Therefore TaeKwonDo's strength can be used only for the purpose of self-defense and not as means of attacking others.
The
practice of TaeKwonDo gives the individual an attitude of modesty and generosity which virtues are fundamentally based on
self-confidence. It also develops physical fitness, concentration, self-discipline, inner peace and harmony with others, control
of mind and body, and its techniques allow you to achieve maximum effect with minimum expenditure of energy.
In
the year 2000 the first official Olympic medals were handed out making TaeKwonDo an official Olympic Sport adding to its mass
appeal making it the number 2 sport in the world next to soccer. The benefits to TaeKwonDo are endless to children and adults
alike, with the most important being CONFIDENCE.
